Fulham area information

Fulham is one of London’s most upmarket residential areas. Its status has evolved significantly over the centuries. In the 18th Century, its reputation was quite different. In place of boutiques and relaxed restaurants, were gambling dens and brothels frequented by London’s elite. With the advent of the railway in Victorian times, Fulham boomed as a working class commuter hub and experienced extensive property development, hence its largely Victorian and Edwardian housing stock.

Thanks to its convenient location, great housing stock, and generous gardens Fulham is a popular choice for families and couples looking for relaxed living, close to the city.

Similar to neighbouring Kensington and Chelsea the area is also very popular with the French and Italian communities, lending a European charm to Fulham’s British streets. Fulham is a popular area for Cadogan Tate's London customers.

    Restaurants and Hotels

Fulham’s restaurant scene is all about relaxed neighbourhood restaurants rather than high-end fine dining. Its one Michelin Star establishment is a pub. This sums up the culinary character of Fulham, whose residents want to relax when they get home from the hustle and bustle of central London. You’ll find all the big name chains, particularly around Fulham Broadway. There’s also plenty of neighbourhood gems from all corners of the world. Read Time Out’s best recommendations in the area for inspiration.

Aside from its two football grounds, Fulham isn’t a magnet for tourists, which means that hotels are relatively thin on the ground. So, if you’re in the area house hunting and are looking for somewhere to stay, there isn’t a huge amount of choice. There are a few of the cheaper hotel chains close to the football grounds and plenty of short stay apartments on offer. Booking.com is a good place to start if you are looking for a hotel or short stay apartment in Fulham.
