Jonathon Lee Shannon is a visual artist currently living in NYC. At the age of Fourteen, Jonathon was scarred for life. He was in a tragic accident that put him in the hospital with the risk of losing his vision. After sometime he slowly recovered and used art to free himself.
Several years later, Jonathon received his BFA at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). After traveling internationally to locales in France and China, further expanding his understanding of art. He received several honorary scholarships and worked with well known artists such as Patrick Dorothy and Xu Bing. During his residency program at Anderson Ranch he gained a deeper understanding of abstract art, which helped him formulate his own concept.
Jonathon uses acrylic paint, charcoal, and thickening mediums to push the boundaries of representational and abstraction. His concept, Reverse Reality, depicts the reversal of the basic forms of life--Organic and Geometric. Working from direct observation, he uses this concept to create a world of his own.
Jonathon is now living in Brooklyn, NY, working as an art handler and pushing his way into the art world.
