British Association of Removers (BAR)
Cadogan Tate is a full member of The British Association of Removers (BAR) and its specialist Commercial Moving Group and Overseas Group. The Association was founded in 1900 and has over 500 members, representing the best British removals, storage and shipping companies. It is dedicated to promoting excellence in the removals industry for the benefit of its members and customers. BAR is the voice of the professional moving industry. The BAR code of practice, which has been approved by The Office of Fair Trading (OFT), provides a range of protections for anyone using a BAR company. The code of practice includes
- High standards of risk management and staff training
- An association-backed guarantee of full repayment of advance payment or completion by another equally qualified mover if the move is not completed due to failure of the BAR member
- A customer protection scheme under which if a customer has a complaint about a BAR member, the code of practice requires the moving company to try to resolve it fairly, quickly and efficiently. If this is not possible, BAR will step in with its free Conciliation Service. If the customer and mover are still unable to reach agreement, a low-cost, independent arbitration scheme is available, operated by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
